LOCAL PROFESSIONALS OFFER FREE CAREER AND FINANCIAL ADVICE

Heath, Ohio (July 16, 2009) – Local businesses and non-profits will join together this Friday at the Indian Mound Mall to give free career and financial advice for today’s economy.

Opportunity Links and the Indian Mound Mall have joined together to present a “Career and Finance Fair” on Friday, July 17 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Throughout the mall concourse local businesses and non-profit groups will be set-up, answering questions and giving free advice on topics like; job search strategies, resume writing and interview tips, career change advice, adult education programs, investment, retirement and mortgage options.

The event will also feature a job fair and speakers from local professionals on topics ranging from managing 401k’s to how to prepare for a job search.

“Everyday you hear about companies cutting hours and pay, putting employees on furlough or laying them off or unfortunately closing all together. Balances in many retirement accounts are suddenly going down instead of up. These factors have created a dire need for our community to become better informed on the available options in finding new jobs, how to successfully prepare for a job search and interview, how to gain additional skills, training or education required for current job openings and also on how to handle their finances at this time. Trying to be a good community partner, we met with Opportunity Links and agreed a Career and Finance Fair could be a great opportunity for people to walk around and get answers on multiple subjects all in one place,” said Dustin Christensen, Indian Mound Mall General Manager.

Businesses and non-profits confirmed for the event include; Action Total Staffing, Central Ohio Technical College, C-TEC, Enlightened Life Coaching, Fiberglas Federal Credit Union, Granville Investment Group, Heartland Bank, Licking County Job & Family Services, Licking County Coalition for Housing & AmeriCorps Positive Balance, MetLife, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, National City Bank, Patterson Financial Services and The Training Center.

The job fair will be held in the space next to Victoria’s Secret. Participating companies include; Christopher & Banks, Lenscrafters, Licking County Coalition for Housing & AmeriCorps Positive Balance, MetLife, National City Bank, Radio Shack and T-Mobile.
